EDISON, NJ -- April 19, 2004 -- OpenRules, Inc. announced today the availability of a new release of OpenRules™, the first open source full-scale business rules framework. Along with an improved documentation, downloading and installation procedures, the new release includes the following features:

bullet New Excel-based datatypes are added. A user can define new types directly in Excel tables and use them to create data objects to test the rules
bullet The same rules now can work with objects defined in Java, in XML, or in Excel-based datatypes
bullet Improved Eclipse plug-in provides more detailed diagnostics of errors in the Excel-based rules
bulletAdded new more complicated implementation of auto insurance premium calculation rules

Along with a new release of OpenRules, a related release of http://openl.org has been implemented. These releases fixed an essential number of known bugs. The new releases are available for free downloads, and their sources are available through SourceForge.net.
