OpenRules Introduces Migration Services and Expands its Technical Support

Monroe, NJ -- December 31, 2018 -- OpenRules, Inc. announces the introduction of new Migration Services. OpenRules was introduced to general public as an open source product 15 years ago, and over these years it has become one of the most popular business rules and decision management products. Every day OpenRules helps customers worldwide handle millions of transactions in real-world production environments for large corporations, government agencies, hospitals, and online businesses - see the list of selected customers. In 2018, along with the Business Rules Excellence Award, we received an overwhelming number of requests from organizations wanting to migrate their existing rules-based systems to OpenRules. This growing interest can be explained by this quote from Forrester Research: "OpenRules have the most-aggressive approaches to business-expert authoring and typically requires less developer support than IBM ODM, FICO Blaze Advisor, and Red Hat Drools".

Starting January-2019 we are essentially expanding our technical support and consulting services to help our customers move to OpenRules and provide them with superior support. The newly introduced migration services are specifically designed to help our customers migrate their existing (or new) rules-based systems to OpenRules. The migration can be done in one or two steps:

STEP 1. Proof of Concept (free until July 1, 2019)
This step gives you an opportunity to actually see how your own business rules will be represented and executed in OpenRules. To do this, you need to send us a brief description of your POC project including:

  1. A list of your rules presented in your existing rules-based system and/or in plain English with necessary explanations

  2. Test data

  3. Expected results

Our specialists will contact you to clarify that we correctly understand your intentions and have the same expectations. Then they will quickly migrate your POC rules into the OpenRules environment. Within ~1 week you may expect to receive back a working OpenRules project that executes your rules using your test data and produces the expected results.

It allows you to effectively evaluate OpenRules using your own rules and data. You will only need to download the complete version of OpenRules and pay nothing for this development. Only if you feel comfortable migrating your entire project to OpenRules but still need additional assistance, you may proceed with the second step.

STEP 2. Integration and Technology Transfer

The second step includes onsite consulting and training services. Our senior consultant(s) will visit you for 3-5 days to conduct the following services:
  • Kickoff meeting to determine the scope of your actual rules-based application

  • Quick introduction to OpenRules using already implemented POC as examples

  • Architecture discussion and guidance specific to your development, maintenance, and run-time environments

  • Working with your specialists to address the extension of the POC to cover your entire application needs, design of your rules repository, integration, maintenance, and other issues

  • Technology transfer sessions and one-on-one training for your project members.
